Birmingham City Legends , BCFC Gift , Signed BCFC shirt , Staff with John

Today we celebrated a truly special milestone — John’s 100th birthday! A lifelong Birmingham City FC supporter, John was overjoyed to be visited by club legends Malcolm Page, Joe Gallagher, Tony Want, Garry Pendrey, and Keith Bertschin.

The day was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments — from a signed Blues shirt, a customised keepsake brochure, and even a letter from King Charles.

The celebration was a joint effort between our amazing team and John’s wonderful family, who turned out in full force — some travelling all the way from Australia to be part of this special day.

A pop-up bar, a buffet, and live music from our very own Sue singing the classics created a joyful atmosphere that had John beaming all day.

Here’s to John — 100 years young

Celebrations

It was a weekend full of celebrations for the platinum jubilee. All of the residents, families and staff fully immersed themselves in the fun, music and laughter. A big thank you to everyone who supported the event and to everyone that came down to celebrate with us. It was a huge success.

Visiting Relatives in Covid Pandemic Made Possible
Care homes up and down the country have been struggling with resident visits this year, but here at Arden Lodge we welcome the addition of two new visiting booths to bring our residents and their loved ones back in the warmth together again.

Many of you will have seen the heartbreaking scenes of families of our residents standing at the windows to show their loved ones they had not been forgotten and abandoned amist this pandemic. With government restrictions and concerns for resident safety normal visiting had  been halted, but we understand the effects this can have on our residents’ mental wellbeing and with winter looming we knew this was not viable for the long term  and we had to find a solution.

So here at Arden Lodge we have our solution, we have designed and built two new visiting booths. Visitors enter via the garden doors minimising the risk of infection and take a seat on their side of the booth, their loved ones will be sat on the other side of the booth and both will be protected by a perspex screen. The homely design was created to make the booths look more like an extension of the garden to try and make it feel as ‘normal’ as can be. It has been highly praised by both residents and their families.
